Where is Crusoe’s Retreat located, and how far is it from the Nadi airport?

Crusoe’s Retreat is located on the main island of Viti Levu, on Fiji’s famous Coral Coast, approximately a two hour drive from the Nadi airport. The resort is quite secluded and isolated, as it is 4km off the main Queens highway, and is situated amongst lush tropical gardens and fronting a palm-fringed sandy beach.

How do I get to Crusoe’s Retreat?

We offer nonstop, air-conditioned car or van transfers between Crusoe’s Retreat and Nadi International Airport, as well as Suva and any point on the main island of Viti Levu. The drive from the Nadi airport to Crusoe’s Retreat is approximately two hours, and you will drive through traditional Fijian villages, past beautiful bays, and deserted beaches.  While the transfer is not included in the nightly rate, it can easily be arranged by contacting us directly.

What makes Crusoe’s Retreat so special?

Guests return to Crusoe’s Retreat year after year to experience a truly relaxing a truly Fijian holiday.  We are very lucky to be located directly next to Namaquamaqa Village, a very traditional Fijian village.  Guests are welcome to visit the village, spend time with the local Fijians, and experience for themselves daily life in the village, as well as see firsthand ancient customs and traditions. Our local Fijian staff live in the village, and you will surely discover why Fijians are considered to be amongst the friendliest people on earth.

What do I need to bring for my holiday?

Crusoe’s is a very laid back, tropical resort. This is the type of place where you remove your shoes, take off your watch, and not see either of them until the day you depart!  We are a very casual resort, embracing the concept that “life is too short to get dressed up for dinner”.  Be sure to bring your swimming gear, sunscreen, light tropical clothing, camera, and your relaxed attitude!

What is included in the nightly rate?

Well . . . LOTS!  First off, a Tropical Buffet Breakfast is included in our nightly rates.  We offer many complimentary resort activities including sea kayaking, snorkeling, beach volleyball, tennis, bush hikes, visits to our neighboring village, and more! There is a daily activities programme that is listed at Reception, as well as Fijian cultural activities.  We do have an Activities Centre to help you with gear and options, as well as a Tour Desk that can assist with any optional tours and excursions.  Don’t forget to stop by the restaurant around 4:00p for our complimentary afternoon tea and snacks.  We also offer nightly entertainment, and even some nighttime fun and games!

What is provided in the Bures?

Your Fijian-inspired bure features a Queen Bed or a King Bed (Deluxe SeaSide Bure only), as well as comfy furniture in the sitting area as well as the covered verandah.  The bathrooms feature a double vanity and double shower, and come complete with bath amenities, towels, and a hair dryer.  There is a mini-fridge, coffee and tea making facilities, telephone, and your own personal safe. Pool towels are available at Reception.

What kind of power is in the Bure?

Fiji offers 220v power, using angled two prong power plugs (like those found in Australia and New Zealand).  If you are traveling from outside of Australia and New Zealand you will need a plug adapter, and possibly a power converter.

Is there internet access at the Resort?

Yes, we offer wireless internet access for a nominal fee (you can purchase a pre-paid internet card), and we also have a computer available for guest use.

Is there a swimming pool?

Oh yes – we have perhaps the most recognizable swimming pool in all of Fiji. Our swimming pool is shaped like a foot!

What are the dining options available?

Crusoe’s Retreat features a full-service restaurant and two bars.  Tropical Buffet Breakfast is included in the nightly rate, and you can pay additional for a full cooked breakfast.  Breakfast starts at 7:00a.  Lunch is served in the restaurant, but you may also enjoy lunch on our expansive pool deck.  Afternoon tea and snacks is FREE and happens every day at 4:00p.  Happy Hour starts at 5:00p at Coco’s Bar, our thatched-roof pool bar. Yes, we have great scuba diving at Crusoes’ Retreat, and we work with South Pacific Adventure Divers, which is on site at the resort. They offer full dive instruction from beginner to advanced, and our experienced dive guides will show you the best sites around Crusoe’s.  Most of our dive sites are within a 10 minute boat ride.  New to diving? We would love to give you a FREE beginner dive in the pool so you can try it for yourself.  But beware: once you try it, you may be hooked!

How much cash do I need to bring to Crusoe’s Retreat?

Almost everything you do and buy at Crusoe’s will be put on your bure account, which you may pay when you depart.  So, there is no need to carry cash around at the resort. You may charge meals, drinks, boutique purchases, spa treatments, optional tours and excursions, and more back to your account.  You may want a little bit of Fiji dollars if you want to purchase some items at our neighboring village, or if you are going on a shopping trip outside of the resort. There are ATMs at the Nadi airport where you can get some cash.

What about tipping?

Tipping in Fiji is not appropriate, and we ask guests not to tip our staff. If you enjoyed your stay with us and received excellent service, you are welcome to contribute to our Staff Holiday Fund, which at the end of the year is distributed evenly amongst all of our staff.

What if I need something during my visit to Crusoe’s Retreat?
